The Insect Portraits are celebrations of life. Each species is placed in a decorative setting which reflects something of its particular lifestyle and splendor.
Why do some of the insects I draw look like humans, or the humans, like insects? Insects and humans share many habitats on the same planet, display similar needs, urges, desires, pangs. Exchanging body parts is one whimsical way of expressing this common pulse. Also, these fanciful figures give me considerable artistic slack, freed up as I am from any rules of accuracy. Also, I can't help it. It's an impulse.
When you see a product for sale advertising its antibiotic, its herbicidal, its insecticidal attributes, -- some soap, garden spray, mattress, sponge, please consider not buying it. At the very least, you might be attacking yourself.
